Series III: Hidden Forms

This series of pencil drawings is inspired by textures and forms found in nature, such as trees, rocks, and stones. I begin with landscape photographs as a starting point. As I build up light and dark values, shapes and forms begin to appear.

The drawings are not meant to show the landscape exactly as it is. Instead, they become a discovery. Surreal forms, symbols, animals, and imagined beings emerge from the textures and shadows.

The final drawing is a mix of nature, imagination, and the unexpected forms that develop through the process.

(All art is unframed unless otherwise listed. If you would like to purchase it framed, Nida will be happy to discuss framing options with you.)
